With Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Lovable, anyone can build an app in an afternoon, so apps now multiply faster than IT can count them. AppLedger checks each one for security problems and explains them in plain English. It lets people share apps safely with their team, and gives IT one list of everything: who built it, who uses it and what data it touches.
40 is an example figure; AppLedger shows you your real one. Works with any AI model and any cloud. Now inviting pilot companies with 100–2,000 employees.
| App | Built with | Owner | Check | AI cost | Shared with |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sales quote calculator | Claude Code | Maria L. | 6 to fix | $38 | Only Maria · sharing blocked |
| Month-end checks | ChatGPT | Ahmed K. | Passed | $12 | Finance team |
| Onboarding tracker | Lovable | Owner left | Passed | $140 | Whole company · new owner needed |
| Shipping dashboard | Cursor | Jo P. | 2 to fix | $9 | Operations team |
Independent scanners look for leaked passwords, security holes and outdated parts. Each problem is explained in plain English, with a fix request for the AI tool that built the app.
One click puts an app behind your company login, for just the builder, a team or everyone. The wider the sharing, the cleaner the checks must be.
One list of every app, agent and automation, with its owner, its users and the data it touches. When someone leaves, their apps get a new owner instead of going dark.
Apps reach AI models through AppLedger, not directly. Move to another model or cloud with a setting, and cap what each person or team can spend.
See how many AI tokens went into building each app, and what they would cost, measured from the coding tools' own logs.

AppLedger doesn't replace the AI tools your people like. It sits underneath them, so the company stays in control and is never tied to one AI vendor or one cloud.
Nobody waits to build something for themselves. Checks get stricter only as more people depend on an app, so IT spends its time where the risk really is.
Sandboxed data, a personal cost cap and an automatic check. No approval needed.
An owner is required. No critical problems. Data access matches the team's roles.
Clean checks, a short review, a named successor and uptime monitoring.
Backups, a migration plan and a guaranteed hand-over when the owner moves on.
Every time someone publishes, independent scanners check the app for leaked passwords, outdated libraries, risky settings and code quality. No AI vendor controls the verdict.
Built on proven open scanners such as Trivy, Opengrep and SonarQube.
Anyone who can see this file can take payments, issue refunds and read your customers' payment details.
app.py:13 · Trivy stripe-secret-tokenText typed by users goes straight into a database query. Use query parameters instead of gluing user text into SQL.
app.py:24 · Opengrep tainted-sql-stringVersion 5.3 has 2 known security problems, both serious. At worst, an attacker could run their own code on your server. Update to 5.4 or newer.
requirements.txt · Trivy CVE-2020-1747, CVE-2020-14343Debug mode shows internal details to anyone and can let them run code on your server. Switch it off before sharing the app.
app.py:56 · SonarQube python:S4507Real output from our prototype, run on a sample app with deliberate mistakes.
Every check also shows how much AI went into the app: tokens, sessions and what they would cost at the AI vendor's list prices.
On a flat-rate plan such as Claude Pro, Max or Team, people pay their plan price. The figure shows the work's value at API rates.
| Tool | Model | Replies | Est. cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | Claude Opus 5.5 | 421 | $36.40 |
| Claude Code | Claude Sonnet 5.5 | 36 | $1.59 |
Most tokens are cached context the AI re-reads on every step, which is billed at a fraction of the normal price.
Because every app runs through AppLedger, you can see what each model really costs and how well it performs on your own work. Switching is a policy change, not a rewrite.
No AI vendor can tell you a competitor does the job cheaper. A neutral layer can.
| Model | Cost / month | Checks passed |
|---|---|---|
| Current model | $412 | 98% |
| Alternative A | $161 | 98% |
| Alternative B | $95 | 91% |

Builders get a publish step in Claude Code, Cursor or Codex. Nothing else changes for them.
Choose approved models, spending caps and what each sharing tier requires. Then let people build.
We're working with a small number of companies, and IT service providers, to build this with real teams.
No. AppLedger can deploy apps for you, but its job is the layer above and below: catalog, policies, checks, ownership and switching. Apps can run in your own cloud.
No. Your people keep the tools they like. AppLedger makes them safe to use together, and keeps you free to change vendors.
In the cloud you choose, including your own servers. AppLedger stores the catalog and policies, not your business data.
That's what we design against. Findings are translated into plain words, ranked by real impact, and minor items stay hidden unless asked for.
Their apps, agents and automations go to a named successor with a hand-over checklist. Anything nobody accepts is paused, not silently left running.
The coding tools keep a log of every AI reply on the builder's computer, with the model and token counts. AppLedger reads those logs locally, prices each reply at the vendor's list price and shows the total. The logs themselves never leave the computer.
We plan to open the app format and the runtime, so you are never locked into AppLedger itself either.
